our story
![]() Cafe Cordiale opened its doors the first time on October 16, 1985 with great enthusiasm, but not a hint of publicity; only word of mouth propelled it. The restaurant has become exceptionally popular for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, late night music, The restaurant was destroyed by the Northridge earthquake in January 1994. During the next two years we developed a new design to provide a light airy Cafe atmosphere during lunch, a warm and intimate bistro setting for dinner, and a versatile late night club for live entertainment. The plan combines the two separate dining areas which could be joined together or separated for privacy, and a bar area with strong aesthetic continuity with the dining room. Cafe Cordiale reopened in January 1996, appealing to all ages with the common denominator that everybody enjoys great service and delicious food in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Over the past fourteen years, the live entertainment has taken on a life of its own supported by musicians and locals who appreciate live entertainment. As the Zagat Survey states "It might be strange to see such a place in the Valley, but pretty people flock to this little gem in Sherman Oaks for drinks, dinner and a very classy variety of live jazz and R&B; though you may rub elbows with a tourist from Duluth, inside sources know this cozy "no-cover" cool spot is a top-notch musician hangout." Holidays have also been a very special time for Cafe Cordiale because of the close friendships that we share with our customers. Every holiday season, Cafe Cordiale decks the restaurant with elaborate decorations setting the stage for Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, Easter, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve. We look forward to serving you soon! ![]() |
